Hi Everyone,

Further to my recent email concerning a request for the HACDA to produce a playing corps for the Beds & Herts. Reunion in Kempston Bedford last Sunday 15th November I am pleased to say that despite the very short notice we did put out a very expeperienced corps that "wowed" everyone

Our corps which numbered twenty and was under the direction of Drum Major Greg Tunesi comprised of HACDA members plus friends from the Guards Division Drummers Association, The Yorkshire Corps of Drums and the Drum Major of the 3rd Battalion Royal Anglian's

It was pleasing to see John Ridgway on parade again and hope his return to the fold after 29 years will encourage him to join us more often

Our parade repertoire consisted of Flag & Empire, Galanthia, Scipio, Rule Britannia, The National Anthem, Hazelmere, The Adjutant, The British Grenadiers.

Trevor Hardwick, Mike Hebden and John Ridgway all volunteered to play Last Post & Reveille and Brian Harrod not wishing to be left out sounded Fall In and The Advance

I have sent a separate email to all those who took part congratulating them on their turn out and performance

I am sure that the some of us will meet again shortly at various other musical events which may include the HAC Drums Dinner next Friday or at the Army School of Drumming at Catterick next weekend

Kind Regards

Martyn
Hi Everyone,
Firstly a big thank you to Shaun Huggins for organising the best past and present drummers weekend at Catterick so far. Nearly 70 of us attended with the objectives of making a recording as a momento of the weekend and enjoying a superb formal dinner in the Sergeant Mess. I also thank his staff who put so much work into the event and made us all feel so welcome. Although Shaun moves on to pastures new (but still in Catterick) Captain Geoff Johnson IG, OC of the Army School of Ceremonial and the Drums Wing has confirmed that the past and present weekends will take place in 2010 and beyond.

Our final meeting for 2009 will be held on Wednesday 9th December. I do hope we have a good turnout as a close to what has been an excellent year for our corps. Please note that the code has changed.

Looking further ahead Martyn Pearson has confirmed that the HACDA weekend at Bisley will be held on 22/23rd May 2010, so please put this date in your diary if you are planning to attend. As usual we will arrange minibus transport from Harewood Barracks to Bisley. The cost of the transport and fuel will be paid from our drums fund.

I attach our latest contact list and our current recruiting poster which I ask you to circulate as widely as possible. In addition to flute players and side drummers (?) we would benefit by recruiting a time beater and Drum Major.
I hope to see as many of you as possible next Wednesday.

Regards
Greg

Fellow Corps of Drums enthusiasts,

John Ireland kicked off an interesting discussion at Bisley last weekend suggesting that if we all agreed on a 'top 10' marches then guest players would be able to make a fuller contribution when parading in support of other corps. This led to an exchange of e-mails between Roger Davenport and myself where we have jointly decided to suggest a range of marches which we believe are well known to many of the active players within the COD Society, the HACDA, the YCoDs the GDDA, the Cinque Ports and other flute playing corps.

Our suggested list is;

The Adjutant
For Flag and Empire
Galanthia
The Great Escape
Hazelmere
Household Brigade
Light of Foot
Prussian Glory
The Red Cloak
Silver Trumpeter

In addition we could select The Ashgrove as our retreat march and See the Conquering Hero as our slow.

This list does not aim to restrict any of us from selecting and playing the music of our choice, but brings a standard set of marches together for experienced players to play and for beginners to master as their ability and skills develop.

I look forward to any comments or feedback.

Regards

Greg
