The Yorkshire Corps of Drums
Drum & Flute/Fife Foundation Guide
The Drum & Fife has been played in England from the year 1540 so represents an important part of our rich musical heritage.
This page has been produced to encourage people to start and maintain a drum and flute playing corps of drums.
The music has been selected to provide the basic of a marching musical display (Beating of Retreat) using simple but efective melodies dating from the 17th century to the modern day. This music could also provide the basic of common settings to be used when Corps of Drums come together to play.
I do hope you enjoy mastering these tunes, playing as a cohesive Corps of Drums and tackling more complex music when ready.
