THE GRENADIER GUARDS REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE. Sunday 18th May 2008
The Guards Division Corps of Drums Association were positioned in ranks of five, behind the Band of the Grenadier Guards. Our numbers were 30 in total made up as follows:-
6 Side Drummers.
1 Bass Drummer.
1 Cymbalist.
12. 1st. Bb Flautists
3. 2nd Bb Flautists.
7. F Flautists.
The normal format was followed, playing alternately with the Grenadiers Band from Wellington Barracks to Horseguards and back. The feedback to date from all quarters has been most flattering, especially those coming from many professional musicians. I feel the Flute balance was just about right, and six side drums quite sufficient. The turnout and drill was top draw stuff, not bad for veterans ! Congratulations to all concerned. Our next engagement is to be on Sunday 29th June when we join forces with the serving Corps of Drums of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards at the Regimental "Grenadier Day".
Our playing membership is gradually increasing, but we could still do with more of the younger element of veterans, so how about it all you Drummers ? Give me a call.  Peter Taylor
